To reliably measure the temperature in your cooler bag, you must always use a liquid thermometer with the sensor in a liquid, and not a regular air thermometer.

This is of essential importance due to the thermal density of your medication. Medication consists of a liquid, and by placing the sensor in a liquid, you accurately simulate the temperature of the contents of your syringe, pen, or vial.

A measurement in the air is not reliable. Air cools down very quickly, but heats up again immediately upon opening the bag. As a result, an air temperature meter indicates strong fluctuations that say nothing about the actual temperature of your medication. Therefore, always ensure that your sensor is in a liquid if you want to accurately monitor the cooling.

1. Place the gel packs in the freezer at -18°C for at least 12 or 14 hours, so just in your home freezer. (12 or 14 hours depending on which model you have)

2. Slide the gel packs back into the designated compartments.

3. Place your medication in the middle compartment and close the bag.

Handy tip: keep your gel packs in the freezer as a standard practice. That way, they are always ready to go.

If you are unsure of the freezer temperature, or if it is set colder than -18°C, acclimatize your gel packs for 30 minutes before use before adding them to the cooler bag.

No, your medication cannot freeze. Our gel packs use a specially developed Phase Change Material (PCM) that continuously releases 3°C. Because the gel packs do not cool to 0°C, the temperature inside the bag physically cannot drop below freezing.

Additionally, the gel packs are located in separate compartments, ensuring they do not come into direct contact with your medication. As long as you place the gel packs in the designated compartments, the temperature remains perfectly balanced.

Never add an extra gel pack to the bag, as this disrupts the specially calculated balance and function.

Yes. However, the warmer it is, the shorter the bag retains the temperature. At approximately 32°C, you can expect about 30 percent less time than the stated duration.

Yes, hundreds of times. They don't wear out and you don't need to refill anything. Just don't drop a frozen gel pack, because when frozen they are hard and a corner might tear. Individual gel packs are available separately if you want a second set to switch on the go.

No, that has the opposite effect. The bags are designed around an exact amount of cold in an exact spot. An extra gel pack disrupts that balance and actually increases the chance that your medication gets too cold.

Because air heats up much faster than liquid. If you measure the air in a bag, the performance appears better or worse than it actually is for your medication. What counts is the temperature of the liquid in your pen.

Gel packs in hand luggage: Gel packs are allowed in your hand luggage as long as they are completely frozen (they are then considered a solid).

On the return journey: Have the gel packs thawed (liquid)? Freeze them again before the return flight, or simply put them in your checked baggage.

Medication: To be on the safe side, bring a medication passport (free at your pharmacy) or a doctor's certificate. Should you be asked for it, simply show it briefly and you can proceed directly.
