Frequently asked questions,

Product FAQs

For which medication is this cooler bag intended?

For medication that must be stored at room temperature, between 16 and 25°C, and which you specifically want to protect from heat. Think of an insulin pen that you have started using and therefore no longer belongs in the refrigerator, or medication that would get too hot in the car, on the beach, or in a tent.

Does your medication need to stay between 2 and 8°C? Then choose a cool bag from our 2 to 8°C line.

How does the bag work without a freezer, electricity, or gel packs?

Based on evaporation. Inside the bag is a gel pad that you place in water for a minute. It absorbs many times its own weight in water. That water then slowly evaporates through the fabric, extracting heat from the contents in the process. The same principle as when you blow on a wet hand and it feels cold.

Because of this, you only need tap water on the go. No freezer, no power outlet, no battery.

How often do I need to re-wet the bag?

That depends on the temperature. At around 32°C, you need to wet the element more often than at lower temperatures. Feel it briefly in the morning: if it still feels damp, you can continue for the day.

Will my medication or my bag get wet?

No, provided you briefly run the gel cushion between two fingers after soaking to wipe off the excess water.

Never put the bag in a plastic bag. It won't be able to breathe, and the cooling will no longer work. Do you have tablets instead of pens or vials? Put those in a sealed bag just to be safe.

Up to what outdoor temperature does the bag work?

We test up to 32°C. At that ambient temperature, the inside remains just around 25°C. In practice, you rarely sit in that heat continuously for a whole day, because you are indoors or in the air conditioning.

Is the bag allowed through security?

Yes. The bag is allowed as hand luggage. Always bring your own medical passport or an English doctor's certificate for your medication.

How long does the gel cushion last?

With daily use with tap water, a gel cushion lasts approximately a year and a half (+/- 600 days). Replacement gel cushions are available as an accessory, so the bag itself will last much longer.

General FAQs

Why do you measure in liquid and not in air?

Because air heats up much faster than liquid. If you measure the air in a bag, the performance appears better or worse than it actually is for your medication. What counts is the temperature of the liquid in your pen.

That is why we measure there, and that is why our stated hours are more conservative and reliable than figures based on air measurements.

Can I take the cooler bag or cool box and my medication through customs without any problems?

Yes, you can take our MediCooler products (medicine cool bags and medicine cool boxes) with you without any problems. According to European regulations, the transport of cooling products and medication is fully permitted.

Here is how to get through security quickly and easily:

Gel packs in hand luggage: Gel packs are allowed in your hand luggage as long as they are completely frozen (they are then considered a solid).

On the return journey: Have the gel packs thawed (liquid)? Freeze them again before the return flight, or simply put them in your checked baggage.

Medication: To be on the safe side, bring a medication passport (free at your pharmacy) or a doctor's certificate. Should you be asked for it, simply show it briefly and you can proceed directly.

How quickly will my order be shipped?

If you order on business days (Monday to Friday) before 16:00 PM, your package will be shipped the same day!

Orders placed after 16:00 PM or on weekends will be shipped on the next business day. As soon as your package is on its way, you will automatically receive a Track & Trace code via email to track the delivery.
